Role at FSG
Cara is currently working with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on two distinct projects that include exploring the potential for a regional education data system to support the Seattle-based cradle-to-career education collective impact effort, and designing a strategic learning and evaluation process to support the Building Community Philanthropy initiative. Cara looks forward to building a breadth of knowledge across impact and approach areas, as well as working on both domestic and international projects.
Prior to FSG, Cara served as a Vice President in the Customized Fund Investment Group at Credit Suisse, an international investment bank. She has nearly eight years of experience working with large pension plans, corporate foundations, and family offices, managing private equity investments and advising on portfolio allocation strategies. While in graduate school, she received the William Randolph Hearst Fellowship at The Aspen Institute, interning in the Program on Philanthropy and Social Innovation, which seeks to maximize social sector impact through leadership development initiatives, convenings, and research. More recently, she completed her master’s thesis in conjunction with the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools, a unique collaboration between the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Unified School District, to improve educational outcomes in the city’s poorest communities. Cara evaluated and recommended improvements to The Partnership’s teacher hiring practices.

On working at FSG
“I joined FSG, in large part, because I wanted to be excited about going to work every morning. I am fortunate to work for an organization where my professional interests and personal philosophies align and flourish. I feel honored to work with talented and like minded colleagues who share the same passion for tackling some of the world’s most challenging social problems and improving the livelihoods of people everywhere. I leave at the end of each day knowing that my work is having a meaningful and direct impact on communities in need.”
