Role at FSG
At FSG, Vishnu is responsible for conducting research and analysis under various programmatic areas within the Inclusive Markets approach. His work involves gaining insights on low-income customers and using those insights to improve business models that will serve them better. He is currently working on a program which explores the role of property rights on tenure security of slum households in urban India. His other recent project was on assessing the feasibility for market-based solutions in addressing reproductive and sexual health needs of young adults in urban India.
Prior to joining FSG, Vishnu worked with Monitor Inclusive Markets (MIM) where he worked on a project that looked at the feasibility of low-cost pharmacy and primary care clinic chains in peri-urban areas of India. Other projects included working with partners in assessing the robustness of the supply chain for sanitation products in rural India, as well as mapping the affordable early childhood education landscape in India. Before that, Vishnu worked in the energy sector with the think tank Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW). While at CEEW, he analyzed the energy access scenarios of Indian households and co-authored the report Energy Access in India—Today and Tomorrow. Vishnu has also done research on the power transmission sector in India, as well as economic policies in the energy and environment sectors.
