Navigating Uncertainty Together: A Note from FSG’s CEO

Since 2000, FSG has helped leaders across sectors do good work. From expanding economic mobility for women in India to supporting community leaders to address mental health and well-being in rural U.S. towns, and preparing businesses and communities alike to pursue a just transition, our work has evolved over time, driven by a desire to be responsive to and in-service of our clients, partners and the broader field of social impact.

Reflecting back on 25 years of change, there is much to celebrate. In this moment, however, I’m mourning the direct impact of recent executive orders and actions on real people, including members of the FSG team, our clients and partners, and marginalized communities across the globe. Compound these recent actions with natural disasters, geopolitical unrest, and emergent technologies, and the urgent need of our work has never been more clear.

While much is shifting and there are many unknowns, rest assured that FSG maintains an unwavering commitment to equitable systems change in service of all.

We will continue to support leaders to drive lasting change through our customized coaching and consulting, research and insights, and learning communities. We will continue to uplift evidence-based strategies, examples and exemplars, highlighting the equitable outcomes they produce for all. We remain a trusted thought partner, staying curious about the needs of our clients and partners as well as the field to support leaders as they advance their efforts and impact.

A colleague recently reminded me, “Constraint breeds innovation.” Private sector companies have long harnessed this fact to drive business growth, and marginalized communities demonstrate it through their resilience every single day. In this moment of actions and threats triggering all kinds of new constraints, FSG will continue to innovate in service of our clients and partners and the more equitable outcomes we seek for all.

I’m humbled by the opportunity to help lead FSG into the next 25 years of service and impact. I’m grateful to our Board of Directors including our new board members, the FSG team, and our clients and partners across the field.  And I’m excited for the innovation on the horizon!

In service,

John Harper
Chief Executive Officer
FSG
