FSG Managing Director Chirlie Felix will be moderating a session titled “Building Cross-Movement Partnerships to Advance Intersectional Justice for Immigrant Children and Families” at the 2024 Hispanics in Philanthropy Annual Conference.
Session Description: This session will highlight how cross-movement collaborations have advanced intersectional justice for immigrant children and communities, and the ways in which the support of donors at key moments facilitated success. The session will feature panelists who will speak to the ways in which cross-movement collaborations create opportunities for: 1) sharing networks of expertise, engaging key stakeholders, and opening doors for new partnerships across issue areas, 2) sharing of learning and best practices with organizations across movements to help advocates draw on the strengths, experience and “wins” of other movements to advance shared goals, and 3) sharing strategies (and learning from failures) to catalyze bold, creative and innovative advocacy that uplifts the priorities and perspectives of directly impacted people across rights issues. By working together, and with the support of donors that center intersectional work, we can holistically respond to the needs of immigrant children and families by uplifting their overlapping and intersecting identities and how those identities shape their lived experiences.
