Ashish is president of The/Nudge Foundation. He focuses on using market-based solutions to drive sustainable social change. His emphasis has been on multi-year programs that seek to build and scale inclusive business models to address sector-specific development challenges. Ashish was the founder of Monitor Inclusive Markets (MIM), a social action unit within Monitor. He pioneered MIM’s market-based approach to addressing the world’s development challenges. Ashish led an extensive effort to facilitate a new ownership housing industry to serve low-income urban households, working with entrepreneurs, developers, finance companies, major corporations, and the government. In 2018 this had scaled to a USD 4 billion loan portfolio and over 230,000 new houses. Ashish has also helped catalyze the clean drinking water market for low-income urban households and private sector supply of toilets in Bihar. Prior to founding MIM, Ashish started, developed, and led Monitor Group’s consulting business in India.
Ashish has a PhD from Stanford University, an MS from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.Tech. from IIT Bombay.
Ashish is also actively involved with Ummeed, a nonprofit that helps children with, and at risk of, developmental disabilities.
