Ryan brings deep expertise in health equity and strategy, with a proven ability to help organizations increase their impact and better serve the people and communities to whom they are accountable.
At FSG, Ryan advises the nation’s leading foundations and corporations. Examples include:
- Coaching senior leadership at one of the largest companies in the world to apply the principles of systems change to reduce inequities;
- Enabling a multibillion-dollar health plan to explore opportunities to address the social needs of Medicaid Managed Care members; and
- Augmenting a corporate health foundation’s effort to catalyze collaboration through a focus on the social determinants of health.
Through his writing and speaking, Ryan is also instrumental in building the field’s understanding of how to solve critical organizational challenges.
Before FSG
Ryan rejoins FSG from Genentech where he advanced a multimillion-dollar charitable investment strategy aimed at equitable healthcare system transformation. His leadership included influencing the business’ ability to drive equitable outcomes for patients, advising industry-leading grantee partners, and designing and launching signature initiatives, including the $6M Community Health Justice Fund—bolstering community-led efforts to advance health equity and racial justice.
Ryan also brings expertise in academic medicine, having developed, launched, and managed a consulting practice at the Association of American Medical Colleges. And at The Advisory Board Company, Ryan advised hospitals and health systems to improve their financial and operational performance and cultivated his entrepreneurial talent through the delivery of new consulting services.
